Powerlifting - CHASING the 1000kg Total
Hey brother, a recommendation for you. If you want to get an incredibly strong vertical pull, get a plate loaded 1:1 ratio cable pulldown machine and start making the pull-down a progressive increase in weight program in the same manner as powerlifters program bench press or squat. I worked for 3 years on a plate loaded pull-down machine and got my vertical pull to a very high level. I pulled 500 lb for 4 1/2 reps. I tried all kinds of things. But the most grueling was employing the smolov method of weight percentage increasement for 13 weeks. My max on my vertical pull went from 465 to 500 lb in that time frame. The pull-down machine is what helped make it to where I could even do pull ups. And after using a pull-down machine for about 4 years in the manner in which I did I pulled three reps on a pull up bar with a 45 lb plate on a weight belt and a body weight 455. Have a good one brother.
as a guy from calisthenics, that sh-t is freaking impressive, is basically a pullup and muscle up hybrid, but done by a dude that have the mass of a Bulldozer (and the strength of one)
Thanks mate. Yeah I have to get good at these if I want to do muscle ups, I don't have great shoulder mobility. My mobility is very poor but never any pain or discomfort. Just makes certain things hard that requires good mobility. So now I just use power and strength to work around it
So for your normal training, do you not do regular barbell squats and deadlifts? Just front squats and stones? And then I assume if you’re doing a comp prep, you would add the barbell squat and dead back in?
Yeah I keep bench press year round and then add in the traditional squat and deadlift
Bro im the opposite vertically gifted horizontally challenged. Want to switch?
Nah mate all good. This works well for powerlifting
Bro you are a 💩🦍🦏🦬🏋🏿♂️🤸🏿♂️🏋🏿♂️🦍🦏🏋🏿♂️🤸🏿♂️💩🔥👑💯🔥💪🏿✌🏿
Dude whatever your doing works so dont knock yourself for a few cheat pullups!!! 👍
These I want to get more clearance - and then work some body English in later. Will make muscle ups very easy.
Just stole and lifted my first stone..maybe about 90kgs but im only starting out and it trashed me..got aches in my knees and lower back but i didnt warm up so was my fault but still to pick it up and walk (wobble) with it felt so good..and ive got flu so maybe if im better ill be stronger😂..man loving your vids and workouts..you got me hooked..im gonna beat that stone just give me a few weeks!!!
Get stronger and then lap it and you will be set mate. Landscaping places are great to get stones
You’re under 6 foot? That’s crazy I thought this whole time you’d be at least like 6-4
Nah mate, gives us all hope haha
I told you I would let you know. I hit 40 x 6 PR. Feeling great today. I love overhead press barbell/dumbbell. Working my way back up in poundages. Age ain't nothing but a number 😊 thanks for inspiring me to increase the poundages. We are repping together 😊😅😮
Very well done mate
Gonna do in today's workout. After my barbell incline bench press workout 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿.I am going for a PR @'40lbs. I am 64 yrs old. My birthday is July 14th and this will be my present. Will let you know how I do. You are strong as hell buddy and your back and rear-delts are popping.
Mate best of luck with it and I hope you are successful
Wow almost my bodyweight😮
Disrespects heaviest dumbell in gym. NBD.
Haha yes mate I do
You make me want to do more overhead press.
It's a great exercise
great vid, my question is i do 1 heavy session lets say 3 sets rpe 8, 1 light rpe 8 too and afterwards i do incline db press, shoulder press and some triceps at the end, will my bench go up or should i limit the accesories to a minimum (accesories ill do only 1 set of 1-2 reps shy of failure)
The main lifts don't take to failure. The accessories pick one of them and take 1 set to failure, not all of them
Go for 100kg rep record then
Nah mate - that is very high
So, by implication i can infer that you'd suggest getting the Ironmind large sandbag rather than multiple fixed-weight sandbags from the likes of Rogue or Cerberus - would i be wrong? I am not that handy at diy stuff, i did try making one some time ago but it didn't last long. I am just getting started with sandbag training so i'd like to purchase one proper bag that's likely fillable so that i can start relatively light and work my way up from there, adding more sand every new workout. Is the Ironmind large sandbag a good option? Thanks!
You can get it and just load it with different material to make it lighter / heavier
Go for an axe.
Looking like a barbarian bro
Thanks mate. Years of work
🫡
תרגום טקסט באמצעות המצלמה Wow you look 20 years younger
top character pic! 💪🐻
A force to be reckoned with! If you weren't such a kind person you'd be pretty scary and intimidating.
Yeah, luckily I am a good man
U r macho like bulked up Tom Hardy Mate!
Thanks mate appreciated
Yo mate - I’m sure you get this a lot - but are you natural? Just curious as your physique looks so badass🔥 - also what weight class do you compete in bro?
I am 116kg ATM. Nah mate, have had help in the past
@@LairdRoss No worries mate, your numbers and guns are so cool 💪
My bench max has stalled out at 135kg for about a year now, and after watching this I think I've finally realised why - my work capacity is garbage. 100kg for 1 set of 10 is the best I've ever managed, 4 sets of 10 with 107.5kg is a long ways away. I'll give this routine a shot, thanks mate
Welcome mate, hope it helped
what type of dumbbells are those?
Olympic spin lock dumbbells
Thick, solid, tight
I weak i can't picked up heavy rock☹️
Bro, can you talk about form and technique as well, like how to hold the dumbbells, how much to spread your elbows etc. I've not found good tutorials on RUclips, I've been having difficulty finding a position that suits me well. Thanks ✌️
Yeah thats more a how to one arm press video. Will add it to the list
@@LairdRoss thank you sir ❤️
RIP Beard 😢
I bet his neighbors love this douchebag
That's some solid programming right there! I appreciate the thought and effort you put into helping others. You're an absolute legend!💪🏼
Welcome mate. Hopefully these videos take off and others get something from it as well
Can you do a squat program to squat 140kg?
Yeah I can mate
Definitely have to find what works for you. Im hopeless at chins but love bb/pendley Row. I found doing Pendley Rows worked my upper back well and my lower back just enough and as i got stronger i found doing actual BBRow easier on my lower back then before. I keep quite horizontal and use minimal body english. I agree that a strong upper back helps the bench press. Also add high rep cable facepulls help strengthen the rotator cuff and work the rear delts really well as well as the side delts. No need for lateral raises.
Yeah you need to find what works well for you and it seems like you have done that which is great
Love the music choice by the way. Have this one in my playlist. Great song for training.
Mate sometimes a good song makes all the difference
Quantos minutos dr cardio o senhor faz?
Maybe 10
Bro are you natty because I want to look like you when I grow up
Keep working out and maybe you will. Question that holds is will it make you happy, or atleast content
@@colbyspranza5757 but is such a physique achievable naturally? I’m not trying to downplay or discredit the work this guy has obviously put in
Mate I have had help
Dude is able to look even more bad ss without the beard.. how is that possible?
Just got lucky mate
No strength lost with the beard trim!!! You're still the same beast!!!😎💪🏼
Yeah mate kept it all hah
I've seen videos of you doing this many times, and it never ceases to be incredibly impressive!
Thanks mate. Yeah I have to be consistent, it's good conditioning
Great info! I workout at home and I like to change things up and keep it fun. The variety really helps. I appreciate all your videos and the helpful information you share!
Welcome mate, I will try and make a few with the program listed as well. Glad it helps
I’ve done something similar, and I have reached 3 plates, but just curious, what do you recommend doing if you plateau trying to get 4x10 with 107kg?
Focus on Dumbells for 6 - 8 weeks then come back
I love this prayer squats variation! Its forces str8 posture and no stress on the lower back and pure leg strenght!!!! Pls tutorial next about this squat variation pls! Especialy about how to put the bar! I sometimes slipped :(
I will have to do a video mate. Will add it to the list
Epic stone lifting workout video!
Thank you
I'll be super blunt and a bit vulnerable... I got deported from NZ (I know you're in AUS, but still...) about 5 years ago. That's the last time I was able to hug my son, although we talk almost every day... I have to petition to be able to come back. Luckily the minimum wait time is now over... Cherish this time while you have it... even if it was my own mistake... I never expected I'd never be able to take my son to the zoo, or go for walks or work out and lift... I never anticipated how painful it would be to be separated from him. The memories are all you'll really leave behind... so make them the best you can. Looks like you're doing fine.
Mate I know that feeling. My ex ran away with my son when he was 5 months old. I didn't see him again until he was 2 years old. I know that frustration and pain
Hey man have you notice since you started lifting stones and stuff has Your waist like your abs muscles gotten blocky even tho your lean
Yeah abs will do that when you lift heavy in general. At the end if the day they are a muscle and they grow
Thanks man. Great tips
Welcome mate
Smooth operator.
I have lots of memories of working out with my boys. I have grandkids now, and I want to work out with them. Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories.
Welcome mate. As you know it's a lot of fun
HAAAAMMMMAAAAARRRR!!!!!!!
